Bermuda TifGreen 328
(scroll down to view detailed information)

Description
Tifgreen is a fine leaf, medium green, durable hybrid Bermuda grass which is reproduced from stolons. Low growing resilient grass which is highly tolerant to heat and heavy traffic. Tifgreen recovers quickly from damage cause by normal abuse. Requires a sunny location, and looks its best when mowed to a height of 1/4 to 3/4 inches. Dormancy period is short in locations where the winters are not too severe.
Characteristics
- Use: Tifgreen is utilized on golf courses, athletic fields, and recreation areas. Recommended for residential, commercial, and industrial landscape installations. Tifgreen is ideal for homes with children and pets.
- Composition: Tifgreen is grown from high quality stolons which are reproduced in a controlled cultural environment. Growing in a controlled environment results in healthy sod. This process keeps the sod virtually free from weeds, disease, and insect infestations.
- Measurements: Tifgreen is harvested thickness is 5/8 of an inch, plus or minus 1/4 of an inch, plus top growth.
- Temperature Tolerance: Tifgreen can withstand temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit with no problems which make it both heat tolerant and drought tolerant.
- Wear Resistance: Tifgreen is extremely wear resistant and recovers quickly from damage cause by normal abuse.
- Shade Tolerance: Prefers a sunny location that has little or no shade.
- Color: Dark green color that can be maintain during the warmer months with fertilization and normal watering.
- Salt Tolerance: Because of the good tolerance to saline soil Tifgreen can be installed in both the coastal and desert areas.
- Thatch: Tifgreen can have excessive thatch build-up. To control thatch build-up caused by hybrid Bermudas a regular mowing schedule and occasional verticutting or scalping will help eliminate this build-up.
- Watering: New installations should be watered daily. Let soak thoroughly for the first 10 to 14 days. This will enable the roots to penetrate the new soil and avoid drying out. After the sod has established a deep soaking every 5 to 7 days should be sufficient. It is difficult to recommend a accurate schedule due to soil and climate conditions.
- Mowing: Mow weekly and catch clippings so that they can be removed. Cut to a height of 1/4 to 3/4 inches according to the individuals preference and try not to scalp turf.
- Fertilization: Fertilization schedule should be at monthly intervals with a pound of nitrogen per 1,000 sqft of lawn area. This should be done during the spring, summer, and fall months to maintain the dense appearance and rich color.
- Weed, Insect and Disease Control: Tifgreen is delivered virtually free of weeds, insects and disease but close proximity to neighboring lawns which may have these problems can cause infestations. If chemical control are required always use accordance to the labeled instructions provided by the manufacturer.

Buffalo 609
(scroll down to view detailed information)

Description
609 buffalograss has a fine texture, excellent color, a low growth habit and can stay greener later into the fall than most other warm seasoned grasses. It is drought tolerant and resistant to most turfgrass insects and diseases. It requires less fertilizer, less mowing, less water and less pesticides than both the cool and warm seasoned grasses being used. Buffalograss should not be planted in shady sites or to sites that receive
heavy traffic.
Characteristics
- Use: Residential, Commercial, and other low maintenance areas such as roadways, golf course roughs and parks
- Hot Weather Tolerance: Excellent
- Shade Tolerance: Poor
- Wear Resistance: Good
- Salt Tolerance: Good
- Recovery From Injury: Excellent
- Winter Color: Dormant
- Mowing Height: 2" Medium
- Disease, Weed & Insect Resistance: Because 609 performs best in a drier environment, weed germination should be minimal. 609 is resistant to most turfgrass insects and diseases. If needed, MSMA may be applied for grassy weeds on sod that has been established for more than two months.
- Soil and Fertilizer Needs: On low maintenance sites, a minimum of 1 lb. of nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. in an even blended form should be applied in the fall and spring. In areas where maximum color is critical and higher maintenance is practiced, additional applications during the year can be applied if necessary.
- Watering: After planting, irrigate one day per week for a month. Irrigation after the first 8 weeks will vary depending on factors such as slope, soil texture, and climatic conditions. Allow established sod to perform in a dry environment. 1” of water per 7-10 days is adequate to maintain a green buffalograss lawn. If sod was laid on a compacted soil, more frequent irrigation may be necessary due to shallow rooting.
- Mowing: Mowing height and frequency depend on the use of the site. In home lawns, buffalograss can be mowed at heights of 2-3”.
- Fungicides: Tolerant to Barricade, Dacthal, Ronstar G, Surflan, Atrazine, Simazine and Dimension.
Fescue

Grows well in heavy clay to sandy soils. Above average tolerance to acidic, alkaline, saline, or poorly drained soils.
- Fescue fertilizer needs are: 0.1-0.5 pound of actual nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. per growing month. Needs less Phosphorous {PI and Potassium{K}. Fescue’s pH tolerance has a wide range of 4.7 – 8.5.
- Watering: Newly planted sod should be watered daily and soaked thoroughly to a depth of 3” for the first 10-14 days to avoid
- dry out. Thereafter as needed to prevent visual wilt.
- Mowing: Needs to be mowed every 4-7 days during the growing season at a mowing height of 2 – 4”. Slower growth habit can mean reduced mowing requirements.
- Overseeding: To ensure year round density in Southern Regions, it will be necessary to overseed at least once a year.
Prestige Buffalo
(scroll down to view detailed information)

Description
Developed by the University of Nebraska. Prestige is a low maintenance grass and well suited for Texas. In addition to our dry spells, Prestige is able to perform well in humid climates. Prestige maintains a bright green color with only 1/4 inch of water per week. The soft fine leaf blades form a thick turf with a very low pollen rating. Growing to 4 to 6 inches tall, Prestige spreads quickly and repairs itself. With a deep root system extending 6 to 8 feet, it is very aggressive to prevent weed growth. Prestige has high resistance to disease and shows resistance to chinch bugs. This amazing buffalograss is an excellent choice for lawns, street islands, commercial areas and parks. LEED points are available when using Prestige on certified Green Building projects. The low maintenance requirements make it a great choice for Green Roofs. Buffalograss is the only turfgrass native to the United States.
