Tifway 419 Bermuda

Description Grayish green in color and medium fine texture; can be established from sprigs or solid sod and grows best in full sun.. Excellent weed and disease resistance.  When cut 1/2" to 1 1/2", 419 provides an excellent impact absorbing cushion on playing fields. Characteristics
  • Use: Residential, Commercial, Golf and Sports fields, Ideal for homes with children and pets!
  • Hot Weather Tolerance: Excellent
  • Shade Tolerance: Low – requires full sun and should not be used in a shady site
  • Wear Resistance: Excellent
  • Salt Tolerance: Very Good
  • Recovery From Injury: Excellent

  • Mowing Height: 1/2" – 2”
  • Disease, Weed & Insect Resistance: Aggressive to compete with weeds, minimal disease and insect problems that can be chemically controlled
General Care
  • Fertilization: Fertilize with a complete fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphate and potassium 1 or 2 times a year, spring and fall.  Apply Nitrogen 1-2 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. per year.
  • Watering: Moderate watering needs.  Apply at least 1 inch of water as a deep soaking every 4-7 days during hot or dry periods.  After sod establishment, avoid frequent, shallow watering that results in shallow roots, permitting weed germination and growth
  • Mowing: Needs to be mowed about every 4-7 days during the growing season. Never remove more than 1/3 of the shoot growth at one mowing.
  • Fungicides: Tolerant to the following herbicides: 2-4D, MSMA, Dicamba, Triclopyr, Bromoxynil, Imaxaquine, Siminize, Pennant, Balan, Betesan, and Prowl
TifTuf Bermuda

Description
TifTuf withstands wear and tear from 'traffic' better than other Bermudas, making it the best choice for high impact activities such as football, soccer, baseball, golf and residential lawns. It recovers from injury faster than other warm season grasses. TifTuf sod can be installed year round. It is the most drought tolerant of the Berrnudas. TifTuf greens up earlier and retains its color longer into the Fall than other grasses.

  • Better turfgrass quality (aesthetics and sod tensile strength) over Tifway
  • Superior to all other Bermudagrasses for drought tolerance
  • TifTuf uses 38% less water than Tifway 419

Midiron Bermuda

Description Midiron is a medium textured hybrid Bermuda grass. The deep root system of Midiron Bermuda makes it one of the most cold tolerant of the Bermuda grass family. Midiron is the perfect grass for commercial sites and areas where erosion control is needed.

Characteristics
  • Color: Medium to dark blue-green
  • Texture: Medium blades, excellent leaf uniformity, with good plant density and excellent weed resistance
  • Soils: Performs well in all types of soil
  • pH Tolerance: 5.5 to 8.8
  • Wear Tolerance: Good wear resistance and withstands heavy traffic. Very good damage recovery; covers rapidly by rhizomes in warm season
  • Shade Tolerance: Requires full sunlight
  • Heat Tolerance: Very good heat tolerance
  • Cold Tolerance: One of the most cold tolerant of the Bermuda grass family
General Care
  • Mowing Height: Recommended height is 1 to 2.5 inches. Can be as low as a 0.5 inches in direct sun.
  • Frequency: Mow 1 to 2 times per week to keep recommended height.
  • Watering: Water daily and soak to a depth of 3 inches for 10 to 14 days to avoid dry out on new grass. Water thereafter as needed to prevent wilt (blue-grey hue).
  • Fertilization: Apply one pound of actual nitrogen to 1,000 square feet combine with recommended phosphorous and potassium during growing months. During the hot months avoid nitrogen, as it will increase the plants demand for water. Iron applications will help keep grass color a deep green.
TifEagle
Zeon® Zoysia

Description Zeon is a deep green and a very lush variety of zoysiagrass. It is a fine textured zoysiagrass and is compatible with a wide range of soil conditions. It can handle full sun or light to medium shade. It has good drought tolerance and very few insect or disease problems.

  • Wear Resistance: Excellent
  • Salt Tolerance: Very Good
  • Recovery From Injury: Excellent

  • Mowing Height: .5" to 2"
  • Disease, Weed & Insect Resistance: A well-maintained lawn will provide the best resistance against weeds, disease and insects. Zeon possess a very dense root system that helps prevent weed problems.
General Care
  • Soil and Fertilization: Recommended annual fertilization rate is 1-2 lbs. of Nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. Use split applications with 1 lb of Nitrogen in the spring to encourage new growth and 1 lb of Nitrogen in mid-to-late summer to promote healthy growth into the fall and winter. Recommended weed killers are MSMA and 2-4D.
  • Watering: Apply 1" of water as a deep soaking every 4-7 days during hot or dry periods. Avoid frequent, shallow watering after sod is established.
  • Mowing: Needs to be mowed every 5 to 7 days during the growing season at a mowing height of .5" to 2" for a high quality lawn.
  • Fungicides: Tolerant to Chipco 26019, Banner, Prostar, Lynx, and Eagle. Fall applications of Banner, Daconil or Bayleton to prevent rust to zoysia lawns.
JaMur® Zoysia

Description JaMur is a medium to coarse textured zoysiagrass primarily developed for use in high traffic, high visibility applications. JaMur is similar in appearance to a dwarf variety of St. Augustine, and has many of the same uses. It is ideal for residential, commercial, and industrial sites.

  • Shade Tolerance: Good – requires at least 3 hours of filtered sun per day
  • Wear Resistance: Excellent
  • Salt Tolerance: Good
  • Recovery From Injury: Excellent

  • Mowing Height: 2" Medium
  • Disease, Weed & Insect Resistance: A well-maintained lawn will provide the best weed control but JaMur responds exceptionally well to Iron if problems do arise.
General Care
  • Soil and Fertilizer Needs: Recommended annual fertilization rate is 1-2 lbs. of Nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft.  Use split applications with 1 lb of Nitrogen in the spring to encourage new growth and 1 lb of Nitrogen in mid-to-late summer to promote healthy growth into the fall and winter
  • Watering: Apply 1” of water as a deep soaking every 4-7 days during hot or dry periods.  Avoid frequent, shallow watering after sod is established.    
  • Mowing: Needs to be mowed every 5 to 7 days during the growing season at a mowing height of 2-3” for a high quality lawn, mow too low and weeds are likely to gain a foothold.
  • Fungicides:Tolerant to Iron applications, Chipco 26019, Banner, Prostar, Lynx and Eagle.  Fall applications of Banner, Daconil or Bayleton to prevent rust to zoysia lawns.
St Augustine

Description Raleigh St. Augustine is a vigorous, medium green, medium textured lawn grass. Raleigh was selected for the control of St. Augustine Decline disease coupled with a significant cold tolerance above that of the SAD resistant Floratam. Raleigh is presently the highest ranking cold tolerant, SAD free St. Augustine grass grown commercially available in Texas

  • Shade Tolerance: Good – requires 3-4 hours of filtered sun per day
  • Wear Resistance: Fair
  • Salt Tolerance: Good
  • Recovery From Injury: Fair
  • Winter Color: Dormant
  • Mowing Height: 1" to 2" Medium
  • Disease, Weed & Insect Resistance: A well-maintained lawn will provide the best weed control but most fungal diseases can be controlled with fungicides
General Care
  • Soil and Fertilizer Needs: Prefers neutral to alkaline soils and has excellent saline salt tolerance.  Fertilize twice a year, spring and fall, with a complete fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphate and potassium.  Apply 2-3 summer applications of nitrogen fertilizer, using 1lb. nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft.  Apply nitrogen at 2-6 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. per year.  To high a rate of nitrogen fertilization can increase thatch build-up, encourage chinch bugs and brown patch damage.
  • Watering: Apply 1” of water as a deep soaking every 3-6 days during hot or dry periods.  Avoid frequent, shallow watering after sod is established.    
  • Mowing: Needs to be mowed every 5 to 7 days during the growing season at a mowing height of 1" to 2” for a high quality lawn.
  • Fungicides: Tolerant to Daconil, Sentinel or Eagle.
